Evelyn Hamilton McCormack, 89, of Roanoke was called home to Jesus on Monday, January 9, 2017. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and retired from Medeco Security Lock.Surviving are her loving husband of 70 years, John McCormack; daughter, Bonnie Davis; grandson, Daniel Dowdy and wife Celeste; great grandchildren, Leslie Higgins and husband Sean, Justin Dowdy and friend Arron Dawson, A1C Noah Dowdy, USAF, and Nicholas Dowdy; great great granddaughters, Zoey and Gwenevere; brother, Gerald Teague and wife Mary; and a number of nieces and nephews.The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nursing staff on 3 West at Lewis Gale Hospital for their many acts of kindness and compassion.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission.Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Dan Freeland and the Rev. Bob Radford. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
