Walter Harden "Corky" Brooks, 91, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 23, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Brinkley Brooks, brothers, Berlin, Roy, and Hubert Brooks and a sister Phyllis LaPrad. Mr Brooks retired as a car inspector with the Norfolk and Western Railway. Surviving are his sons, James B. Brooks, Ricky L. Brooks, Larry W. Brooks and wife Ellen, Roger Brinkley and wife Judy; grandchildren, Larry W. Brooks, Jr., Dana M. Decker and husband Mike, Kelly L. England and husband Jason, Kristin M. Brooks, Cameron L. Brooks and Christopher W. Brinkley; great grandchildren, Kaylin Nicole Walston, Dylan Jacob England, Mariah Decker, Morgan Decker, Kinsley Decker and Jayden Epperly; sister, Louise Ayers; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
