Obituary of A. Elizabeth Hartwell Schaeffer

A. Elizabeth Hartwell Schaeffer 91 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 21, 2016. Her husband , William Schaeffer, parents, Mammie and Charles Hartwell, three brothers, Gilbert, Dewey, and Benjamin Hartwell preceded her. Elizabeth grew up in Hardy Virginia and graduated from Franklin County High School. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Roanoke. Elizabeth had a full and interesting life, from working to hobbies, her love of traveling and the outdoors. A very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and person who was dearly loved and will be missed. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra Skyles and husband Steve, Mary Monroe and husband Bill, and John Schaeffer; grandchildren, Kathy Markham and husband Chris, Sarah Tyler and husband John, Michael Monroe and wife, Deanna; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Betsy Davis; special friend, Sandy Lane. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00am Monday December 26, 2016 in Simpson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Lane officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30pm in the Nineveh Church Cemetery in Hardy, Virginia. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm Friday December 23, 2016 in Simpson Funeral Home.
