James Judson Snell, 27, of Roanoke, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016. He was born April 29, 1989. James was a member of Bonsack United Methodist Church and a graduate of Lynchburg College. He was an employee of G&H Contracting in Salem, VA.
James was preceded in death by his brother Christopher Snell. He is survived by his parents Gordon Dennis and Brenda Snell of Troutville. Also surviving are brothers Adam and wife Susie of Kensington MD, John of San Francisco CA, Robert of Christiansburg, VA, and David of Troutville, VA. Other survivors are his nieces, Helen and Lucy Snell of Monrovia, MD, and grandmother Frances Morris of Roanoke, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. James loved his special companions, his dogs Charlie and Kira. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in James’s name to Habitat for Humanity. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Bonsack United Methodist Church 4493 Bonsack Road NE Roanoke, VA with Rev. Randy McMillen, Rev. Adam Snell, and Tim Craft officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540)366-0707.
