Obituary of Dorothy Louise Simpson Seigler

Dorothy Louise Simpson Seigler, 97, of Roanoke passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016. She was born on March 17, 1919, a daughter of the late Walter Gray and Maude Barnard Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Gilliam Seigler Jr.; sisters, Frances Woolwine, Margaret Cecil, Julia Robertson; and brother, Robert Simpson. Dorothy attended Jefferson High School, Williams Memorial High School (New London, Conn.) and VA Western Community College. She was an active, long-standing member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Dorothy was a strong, graceful lady, traveled extensively, helped and devoted time to her family, and was gregarious and hospitable. She will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are her son, George Gilliam Seigler III and wife, Irene; grandchildren, Stephanie Rompot and husband, Kurt, Wesley Seigler and wife, Elizabeth; one great grandson, Alex Crist; sister-in-law, Mary Simpson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the TLC Committee of Northminster Presbyterian Church 3911 Greenland Avenue Roanoke, Va. 24012 Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Russ Merritt. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Fincastle, Va.
