Obituary of Marian Snyder Miller

Marian Snyder Miller 91 of Roanoke died Tuesday November 29, 2016, and now rests in the peace of our Lord’s presence. She was born August 2, 1925, to the late Tait Ward and Gertrude (Martz) Snyder. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lot Miller, and her siblings Harriet Ida Waters, and Theodore Franklin Snyder. Formerly from Hubbard, Ohio, she moved to Roanoke 27 years ago. She is survived by her children, Melinda and son-in-law Mike Lewis; Mark Miller and his fiancée Gilley Carroll all of Roanoke, and Matthew Miller of Kernersville, NC. She leaves grandchildren, Matt, Michael, Zane, Robert, Gavin, and Kyle Miller, and Michael and Joshua Lewis; great grandchildren, Madeliene and Tait; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Everly and Joy Miller; several nieces, nephews and her dearest friend, Joan Shepherd. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Gaylord, Dr. Joseph Moskal, and Dr. Chris Wood for years of superlative care. She always enjoyed bantering with you! We are also grateful to the staff of Springtree Heath and Rehab. Your kindness and care can never be repaid. Our thanks to Charles Arnold, Audrey Taylor, and Tommy Smith for always being there. Marian was a member of Bethany Christian Church. She loved her church family so much and she considered Pastor Elaine her second daughter. We also want to thank Dianna Cleveland for being the best Care Shepherd ever. Over the years, Marian volunteered at the Bradley Free Clinic and for the Lions Club. She enjoyed needlework, fiddling with her flowers and the birds and visiting with friends and strangers alike. Her quick sense of humor got us through many, many rough times. Pastor Elaine Austin will conduct the funeral service at 11:00am Saturday December 3, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home; 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA., entombment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens, Cloverdale Road, Roanoke. Family will receive friends before the service Saturday from 10:00am until service time. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
