Obituary of Frances Marie Wertz

Matriarch extraordinaire, Frances Marie Arnold Wertz (born Mar 31, 1927 died Nov 24, 2016) joined her beloved late husband of 57 years, Lewis E. Sr (born Jul 24, 1923 died Mar 13, 2001), in Heaven on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 24, 2016. Mom Frances was the oldest of 6 children born to William Curry Arnold (1896-1963) and Elsie McGhee Arnold (1906-1997). Mom Frances is the beloved mother of 7 children; Lewis E Jr (wife Sue), Jerry W (wife Janis), Curry L (wife Debbie), Kitura W Conner (husband Gary), Dena W Lowe (husband Tom), Kevin D Wertz (wife Martha), and Sharon W Cheatham (deceased and with Jesus in 1995). Mom Frances is survived by 17 grandchildren and their families; Laura W Oss, Lewis E Wertz III, Paxton D Wertz, Parker W Wertz, Barrett M Wertz, Briton W Wertz, Curran L Wertz, Darren E Cheatham, Jeremy D Cheatham, Tonya C Pickeral, Buck L Conner, Twila L Waller, Thomas C Lowe, Todd C Lowe, Kaydee L Wertz, Leslee L Wertz, and Marlee R Wertz. Mom Frances is survived by 18 great grandchildren; Leonard E Wertz, Devon R Wertz, Mia S Wertz, Massi S Wertz, Corey L Wertz, B Cole Cheatham, Sharon Abigail Cheatham, Kailey M Cheatham, Camden S Cheatham, Vivian G. Pickeral, Grant E Pickeral, Chance B Conner, Eric T Conner, Lulani F Lowe, Leland T Lowe, Daemeon X Lowe, Noah J Lowe, and Remy C Lowe. Mom Fances is loved and missed by her additional in-law family; Kelly D Oss, Katie S Wertz, Chuck Gibson, Stefanie T Cheatham, Shannon A Cheatham, Greg K Pickeral, Virginia R Conner, Ashley R Lowe, and Megan D Lowe. Mom Frances is also survived by 5 siblings (Phyllis A Keith, Jacques D Arnold, Sandra A Painter, Sue A Gibson, Don M Arnold) and their families. Mom Frances was a self-made matriarch of unending interests from antiques to the stock market to conservative politics and travel. Yet always her highest priority was her beloved husband and her children and their families and their well-being. We will miss her more than the stars in the sky. Save us a place up there Mom. We love you. The family will receive friends and family at the Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke VA on Sunday, Nov 27, 2016 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Steve Pasley and Chaplain Gary Kingery at the Simpson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Nov 28, 2016 at 11 am.
