Obituary of Julia Rose Robertson

Julia Rose Simpson (Judy) Robertson, 93, of Roanoke passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was born on May 13, 1923, a daughter of the late Walter Gray and Maude Barnard Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earle Gilbert Roberston, sisters, Frances Woolwine, and Margaret Cecil, and brother, Robert Simpson. Julia was a 1941 graduate of Jefferson High School and attended the Roanoke Hospital School of Nursing. She was a kind, loving and friendly person who always helped others. Julia enjoyed family gatherings on holidays and special occasions. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Julia was truly a special lady who loved life, and will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are her daughters, Judy Layman and husband David, Lou Anne Ferguson and husband John; son, Lee Robertson; grandchildren, Brent Stevens and wife Jill, Scott Layman and wife Shana, Leigh Anne Brogan and husband Heath, and Andrew Ferguson; five great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Seigler; sister-in-law, Mary Simpson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association. A graveside service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fincastle, Va. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
