Obituary of Matt Potter

Please share a memory of Matt to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Matt Potter 40 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Monday November 14, 2016. Matt was employed by Arkay Packaging for many years. He was an avid VT and Dallas Cowboy fan, a great guitarist, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. However, most of all he enjoyed being the best daddy, husband, son, brother, and friend he can be. A truly, compassionate, caring, sincere person who will be dearly missed by all. Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, and high school sweetheart, wife of 16 years, Dawn Potter; his pride and joy, their children, Brandon and Kennedy Potter; a sister, Ashley Potter Cecil and husband Matt; his parents, Michael and Joyce Potter; grandparents, Freda Potter, Edith Tolley, and Betty Burch; mother and father-in-law, Doris and Larry Layman; special aunt and uncle, Carol and Chuck Sloan; and special uncle, Ron Burch; sisters-in-law, Angie Peerman and husband, Mario, and Laura Layman. Along with a host of other family and close friends too numerous to mention. A funeral service celebrating Matt’s life will be held 11:00am Friday November 18, 2016 in Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Walter Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be left for the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com. Arrangements handled by Simpson Funeral Home and Crematory, 366-0707.
