Glen W. Lake, 81, of Roanoke died peacefully at Brookdale Memory Care on Sunday, November 13, 2016. He was the son of the late Clarence Leslie and Mary Jane Robinson Lake of Orangeburg, South Carolina. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon A. Lake of St. Matthews, South Carolina and a sister, Evelyn B. Balton of Lake City, South Carolina. Glen was born February 13, 1935 in Anderson, South Carolina. He graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1952. In 1956, he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina. He worked diligently in the field of electrical engineering and electronic component sales, and was a district sales manager for General Electric-southeast region. He was co-founder and Vice President of Southeast Power Components in Greensboro, North Carolina. Glen was an avid handball and racquetball player for 58 years and loved spending time with his dogs. He served as chairman of the finance committee at St. James Episcopal Church. In addition to Jeannie Lake, he is survived by his daughters, Kym Lake Martin (the Honorable Mark Martin) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Stacy Ann Lake of Sylva, North Carolina; his step-daughters, Ryan Fulton Stewart (Jason) of Richmond, Virginia and Allyson Walker Nichols (Brandon) of Roanoke. He loved his grandchildren, Anna Grace, Sarah, Nathaniel, and Susanna Martin; and Cason Robert and Landen Wyatt Nichols. Also surviving are his brother, Curtis L. Lake (Faye) and sister-in-law, Clarice Kissam Lake; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the entire staff of Brookdale Memory Care, and the staff of New Century Hospice for the care, attention and love shown to Glen. In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at St. James Episcopal Church 4515 Delray Street by the Rev. Susan Bentley. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church parish hall following the service.Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
