Helen Janney Martin 68 of Salem passed away Saturday November 12, 2016 surrounded by her family. Her parents, John and Dorothy Janney, a brother, John Janney, Jr., and a stepdaughter, Tina Saul, preceded her. Mrs. Martin was a long time member of the Poages Mill Church of the Brethren and retired from Blue Ridge Surgical after many years of service. She enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music and was an avid NASCAR fan. A very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who truly enjoyed her family, the Smokey Mountains with her husband and spending time with her grandsons and will be dearly missed by all. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 36 years, Richard L. Martin; son, Keith Anderson and wife Anita of Salem; three grandsons, Cole, Mason, and Dawson Anderson; stepdaughter, Linda Sue Kelly; sister, Peggy Goodwine and husband Mike of Ohio; brother, Mike Janney and wife Pam of Roanoke; nieces, Amber Janney, and Sarah Graham of Roanoke; a nephew, Brian Janney of Franklin County; sisters-in-law, Tempril Janney of Roanoke, Nancy Brogan, and along with her constant canine companion, “Christopher”, and many dear friends. Family would like to thank the Nurses and staff at Amedisys Hospice for all their care, and support to Mrs. Martin and her family and making them comfortable as possible during this difficult time. A graveside service celebrating Mrs. Martin’s life will be held 11:00am Tuesday November 15, 2016 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. E. B. Shoemaker and Rev. Maurice Wright officiating.
