Russell Young, 84, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Monday, November 7, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence H. and Bessie Woods Young; brothers, Everette, Eldridge, and Otha; sister, Lula; and just recently October 26, 2016 his wife, Ruth Wray Young.Mr. Young retired after serving 33 years as a Roanoke City Police Officer, and then later retired from Wells Fargo/Loomis.Surviving are his daughter, Teresa Doyon; grandson, William (Billy) David Jones Jr.; great-grandson, Atticus Jones; sister, Peggy Lacks; and numerous nieces; nephews; sisters-in-law; and brothers-in-law.Funeral Services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Joe Peters. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707.
