Wayne Thomas Massey, 69, of Roanoke passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. He was born September 7, 1942 to the late Empson Massey and Christine Massey. Wayne was a graduate of Roanoke College (undergraduate), and Radford University (graduate). He worked for C & P Telephone before taking early retirement. He loved woodworking and Myrtle Beach. Most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Massey; his four children, son, Mike Massey and wife Elaine Massey, daughter, Angie Wingo and husband Scott Wingo, daughter, Melissa Jones and husband Jeff Jones, son, Steven Massey, brother, Ronnie Massey and wife Carole Massey, brother, Donnie Massey and wife Patricia Massey; and four grandchildren, Allen-Michael Massey, Ashley Jones, Emily Wingo and Zachary Jones. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Read Mountain Fire and Rescue Attention: Member at Large 43 Eastpark Drive Roanoke, Virginia 24019. A private service will be held for the family. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
