Angela Loraine "Lori" Batts
Our beautiful Angel on Earth Angela Loraine "Lori" Batts took a walk with Jesus to the Heavens where she is now whole again and in the presence of our Almighty God on Saturday, October 22, 2016 surrounded by her loving supportive family. Lori's will to live gave her strength to fight an extremely aggressive, Stage IV Glioblastomia, brain tumor, diagnosed on January 8, 2016.
Preceding her in death was her father, Bobby Morris Batts, stepfather, Clay Pope, and grandmother, Mildred Mae Holmes.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her loving mother, Brenda Mae Holmes; devoted fiancé, Rick E. Powell; brother, Billy F. Batts and wife Jobie; her cherished nephew, Hunter Batts; aunt, Darlene H. Felts and husband David; cousin and best friend, Summer Felts Trail and husband Shannon; precious little 2 year old second cousin, Seanna Mae Trail; first cousin, Cameron R. Felts, uncle, Bill Lewis Holmes and wife Debra; cousin, Bill Holmes and wife Kristen ; second cousins, Will and Dabney Holmes; cousin Todd Holmes of Cary, N.C.; half brothers, Darryll Tipton of Winston-Salem; Greg Batts and Todd Batts of Roanoke; numerous aunts uncles, and second and third cousins; numerous adoring friends, devoted dog Ceasor and two cats, Shadow and Sassy.
Lori was baptized early in life and accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. She was born January 4, 1962 and raised in the Star City. She was a 1980 graduate of William Fleming High School. She was a fun loving, free spirited girl who loved her family and friends. She loved entertaining, cooking, tending to her flowers and garden. She was very creative and was a master at cross stitching. She was an animal advocate. Lori had an outgoing personality and sincere beautiful smile. She always could light up a room and was such a joy to be around. Her friendship list over the years was astonishing. She was committed to her work at Commonwealth Care of Roanoke (CCR).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angels of Assisi 415 Campbell Avenue S.W. Roanoke, Va 24016.
A celebration of Lori's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. Saturday until the time of the Celebration Service at Simpson Funeral Home, casual dress preferred . 540-366-0707
