Obituary of Charles Hutton

Charles William Hutton 83 of Roanoke passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Charles was born January 22, 1929 to the late William C. "Buck" and Gladys Hutton. Charles grew up in southeast Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School. His work career began at the age of 14 working for Nelson Roanoke. He worked many years selling jewelry for Fink's Jewelers and then on the road representing jewelry manufacturers. Charles ended his work career by driving a bus for Roanoke City Schools for many years and by making deliveries for Custom Design Dental Lab. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church. Charles loved to eat out and to travel. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Bettie McCann Hutton; his four daughters and their families, Rita, Carl, Joshua and Summer Mahler; Pam, Heydon and Jacob Lewis; Joanie, Richard and Ginny Garman; Amy, Howard, and Stephanie Lyon; Charles is also survived by a special aunt, Helen Hutton of Covington and cousins, Lucille Grubbs, Ronnie Hutton, Sharon Hutton March, and Iris Palmer. In honor of Charles' life, and in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Baptist Church, 515 Third Street, Roanoke or the Roanoke City Rescue Mission. A graveside service celebrating Charles' life will be held 2:00pm Friday, June 15, 2012 in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Bryan Smith officiating.
