Obituary of Frances Louise Zimmerman

Frances Louise (Lafon) Zimmerman, 94, of Roanoke, took the hand of Jesus and entered into Heaven on October 17, 2016. Louise was a long time member of Glade Creek Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell A. Zimmerman, and her son Russell (Al) Zimmerman, Jr. Louise worked at many jobs in her lifetime including Hobbie Brothers and Colonial American Bank. In her later years she became a CNA, a job in which she took great pride in caring for others. Left behind are her daughter-in-law, Sharon Zimmerman, granddaughter Crissy Hunley and husband Bryan Hunley, and two greatgrandchildren, Megan and Austin Hunley, all of Roanoke. She also leaves a sister, Elizabeth Harris and husband Robert Harris, sister-in-law, Jacqueline Lafon and a host of other relatives and dear friends. The family wishes to give a special thank you to Brookdale Assisted Living for their love and care of Louise, as well as Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their support and care through this time. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Louise’s name to Glade Creek Baptist Church. Services will be Friday, October 21, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Glade Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Philip E. Ayers officiating. Interment will follow services at Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
