Obituary of Scottie McArthur Jones

Scottie McArthur Jones, 74, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 17, 2016. He was preceded by his parents, Cloyd and Mamie Jones and three brothers, Charles, Ray and Joe. Mr. Jones proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired after 33 years of service with General Electric and was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Minnie Jones; son, Jeffery Jones and girlfriend Georgette; daughter, Lisa Harris and husband Christopher; granddaughter, Amber Harris; grand dogs, Brodie and Bella; brother, Doug Jones and wife Shirley; sisters-in-law, Mabel and Charlotte Jones; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center for their many acts of kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Ridgewood Baptist Church 703 Hemlock Road Roanoke, Va. 24017. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Ridgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Kanode officiating. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Dublin, Va. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgewood Baptist Church.
