John Charles Blake, Sr. of Troutville passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 due to Parkinson's disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Friend Leonidas and Virginia Blake, sisters, Lois White, Marjorie Gribben, and Alice Hess, and his son Matthew Blake. Surviving are his wife Leslie Diane; sons, John Jr. and Mark (Anne); six grandsons; and one great granddaughter; sisters, Sonia Pettini, and Janet Tefft; brother, Lonnie Blake and numerous nieces and nephews.John retired from Roanoke Gas Company after thirty nine years of service. He was a past Worshipful Master (1977) of Catawba Lodge # 342 AF & AM; and was an original member of the Kiwanis Club of Botetourt County when chartered in 1967.The family would like to offer a special thank you to the wonderful and caring staff of New Century Hospice for their many acts of kindness and compassion.In lieu of flowers please consider contributions in John's memory to the John Blake and Ray Otey Scholarship Program of the Kiwanis Club of Botetourt County 44 Kingston Drive # 218 Daleville, VA 24083There will be no viewing or service.
