Pamela Gail Meador(Pam) Cooke, 61, of Roanoke passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. "Rick" Cook and her parents, Alton T. and Christine Webb Meador. Pam was a 1973 graduate of Cave Spring High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. Pam was most recently employed as an Executive Assistant for the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Social Services before retiring on disability in 2014. Her disability was caused by Huntington's disease an inherited brain disorder that causes progressive death of nerve cells in the brain. It affects body, mind (cognitive), and emotions (emotions/behavioral disorders). She had previously been employed by SunTrust Bank (formerly Crestar and Colonial American National Bank), Amscan, and Enesco. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Stephanie Cooke; grand sons, Adam and Ryan Cooke; brother, Alton T. Meador, Jr. and wife, Fujiyo, and their daughter, Nancy Jarvis, husband Christopher, and their sons, Bryston and Ashtun; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Brenda Cooke; sisters-in-law and brother in law, Julia Lee Cooke Peters and husband, Jasper, Dianne Cooke and their families all of Martinsville. A celebration of Pam's life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road with the Rev. Morris Bennett officiating.
