Ruth Hatcher Dawson, 71, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 27, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Edna Hatcher; husband, John Dawson, Sr.; sisters, Elizabeth Payne and Betty Thurman, and brothers, Jack Hatcher and James Hatcher, Sr.
Surviving are her children, Naomi Shelor and husband, Dale, Tina Dawson, Gail Thurman, Jeffrey Thurman, and John Dawson, Jr.; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers, William Hatcher, Jr., Roy Hatcher, Joe Hatcher and wife, Donna; sisters, Norma Myers and husband, Billy, Ruby Welch and husband, James; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707.
