Obituary of Joseph Morris Weiner

Joseph (Joe) Weiner of Salem passed away Monday, September 19, 2016. Joe proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering. He was an avid Tennessee fan, proud to be a "Vol" and loved wearing Tennessee orange. In his career, Joe served in many roles in hospitals from associate director of maintenance to project management with responsibilities of building multi-million dollar hospitals. During his free time, Joe enjoyed woodworking, making homemade beer, baking desserts and listening to Jimmy Buffett. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Jean Cash. Left to cherish his memory his dedicated wife of 21 years, Susan Weiner; son, Jonah Weiner; a daughter and her husband, Morgan and Justin Stolp of Charlotte, N.C.; grandaughter, Mabry Stolp; sister, Eleanor Wasdin and husband. Jim of Florida; brother, Frank Weiner of Kansas; stepfather, Bob Bender of Florida, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carilion Foundation Clothes Closet, C/O Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A memorial service celebrating Joe's life will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Donnette Spence officiating.
