Obituary of Erma Beatrice Anderson

With a long and happy life behind her, Erma Beatrice Brown Anderson, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Friday morning, August 26, 2016. Erma was an exceptional seamstress and bookkeeper. After retirement she maintained a relationship with her work family at, J&M Crown and Bridge. They all knew her as “Birdie” and brought her lunch every Friday. She loved gardening and eating her home-grown tomatoes, cucumbers, and green beans. She enjoyed watching westerns and telephoning her friends and family. Erma was renowned for her kindness and generosity. She was a friend to everyone who knew her. She was born in Wirtz, Va. on April 10, 1924 to parents, Jim Henry and Etta Brown, who precede her in death. She is survived by an adoring daughter, Vickie (David) Young; and son, Mike (Gail) Anderson. She will be greatly missed by her brother, Winifred (Helen) Brown; and sister, Jean Divers; and was loved by two grandchildren, Lisa (Artem) Pirogov, and Luke Anderson. She also leaves behind three sisters-in-law, Frances, Venie, and Jane Brown; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to family, those left to cherish her memory are long time friends and neighbors, Johnnie and Mimi Eanes, and her next door “angels,” Randy and Tina Hostetter, as well as numerous church family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Don Eshelman. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Gills Creek Cemetery in Wirtz, Va. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
