Obituary of James David Seneff

James David Seneff “J.D.” from Roanoke passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016. A wonderful husband to Franke Smith Seneff for 59 years. A devoted father to his daughter Lorie Seneff Ellis and husband Doug, and his son Russell Seneff and wife Melba. A cherished grandfather to Sarah Ellis Lovett and husband Jared, Ross Ellis and Kalee, Trey and Coy Seneff. In addition to his family, J.D. loved all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, and his beloved baby mule, Eli. J.D. was a proud member of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War. He retired from 40 years of service with C&P Telephone Company. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as Trustee Member and past president of the Church Council. He found grant money from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans that funded a number of Habitat for Humanity Houses. He received the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Volunteer Excellence Award in 2009. J.D. was the past Grand Master of the Williamson Road Masonic Lodge.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Habitat for Humanity in his memory. There will be a Masonic Service on Thursday July 28, 2016 at 5:50pm at Simpson Funeral Home, with Michael Canestrari, visitation will follow from 6:00–8:00pm Thursday. A funeral service will be held 11:00am Friday July 29, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ken Lane officiating.
