Eleanor (Ellie) Canegali Duncan, 86, of Blue Ridge (formerly of Delaware, Ohio) passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 and is now resting peacefully. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson F. Duncan, brother, Robert Canegali, and parents, Harry and Marjorie Thatcher Caregali. Ellie loved her family more than life itself. Her other loves were football games, music, and scratch off lottery tickets. She stated numerous times how thankful she was to God for allowing her to spend one more day with her five children and for the chance to see one more football game. Ellie was a graduate of the Columbus School of Practical Nursing. She served in the Emergency Room at the Jane M. Case Hospital, later specializing and moving to the Cardiac Care Unit. She was one of the original nurses to help set up and serve in the Intensive Care Unit. Surviving are her children, Scott Duncan and wife Carol, David Duncan and wife Barbara, Teresa Davenport and husband Tony, Bob Duncan, and Becky Duncan, ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren. A very special thanks to the Amedysis Hospice Team and to Dody Raplee, FNP at Lewis Gale for the excellent chare they provided during Ellie's illness. A celebration of Ellie's life will be held on 6 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at St. Timothy Evangical Lutheran Church 1204 Hardy Road Vinton, Virginia. The Rev. Troy Mays will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
