Patricia "Pat" A. Johnston 78, of Vinton passed away Friday, May 20, 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Divers, father, Virgil Anderson, son, Jeff Carner and grandson, Ashley "Neil" Carner.Pat worked as a licensed optician for 49 years in the Roanoke Valley. In addition to being a devoted mother she was an avid Bingo player.Surviving are her son, Michael Neil Carner; daughter, LeeAnn Shupe and husband John; grandchildren, Bradley Brown, Stephanie Carner, and Tyler Brown; great grandchildren, Jacob Terry, Callie Brown, and Katlyn Terry; sisters, Peggy Thompson, Pam Brown, and Becky Connolly; numerous nieces and nephews.A celebration of Pat's life will be held 4 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
