GENEVA LEMON EWERS, 95, of Roanoke, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 31st, 2012. Geneva was born August 21, 1916, to Headley, Sr. and Lelia Lemon in Botetourt County, growing up in Lithia, Virginia. A former employee of Eaton Yale and Towne and retired from Eli Lilly and Company. After retirement in 1981, she travelled throughout the United States and collected souvenir plates from many states. Geneva was a faithful member of Shenandoah Baptist Church since 1977. A granddaughter once stated her grandmother had a big heart and truly radiated God, giving in everything that she did and making sure no one went without. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Frank H. Ewers; daughters, Judy Ewers; an infant daughter; Son, Lenwood Ewers; Son-in-law, Marvin "Tony" Robertson, all of Roanoke and parents, Lelia and Headley Lemon, Sr. of Troutville. Also, preceding her in death were brothers, Headley Lemon, Jr., Edgar Lemon, Arthur Lemon and sisters Mary (James) Bullard, Thelma Murphy, Armistice (Mickie) Sanderson and Audrey Respess. Geneva is survived by one sister, Ruth Shelor; daughters, Rosalie Robertson, Margaret (Roger) Lacy and sons, Julian "Butch" (Beverly) Ewers, Robert "Bob" (Faye) Ewers, and daughter-in-law Verna Ewers. Also survived by nine grandchildren, H. W. (Yvette) Ewers, Tammy Foster, Angie (Brian) Baker, Catherine (fiancé Tristan Arrington) Ewers, Laura Ewers, Lisa (Shannon) Charles, Elizabeth (Marty) Francis, Michael Robertson, Michelle Robertson, Alan Lacy, Eva Lacy (fiancé Carsten Gorg); twelve great-grandchildren, Linsey, Adam, Matthew, Seth, Emma Kate, Richard Mason, Autumn, Stephen, Blade, Saqqara, Anthony, Jay, and sister-in-law, Hazel Lemon and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 2, 2012 and Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home. A celebration of Geneva's Life will be held on Monday, June 4th, 2012 at 2:00pm at Simpson's Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24019, with Pastor Robert Mullens officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to: A special granddaughter, Tammy Foster, for using her days off from work to assist and lovingly care for her granny, Dr. John Daugherty and staff at Lewis Gale - Valley View and Dr. Gary Oberlender, President of Senior Evaluation, LLC, your care and valuable guidance helped our family tremendously with mother's journey with dementia; a devoted son-in-law, Roger Lacy, whom lovingly helped daily with her special care; dear friends Leona Banks, Nannie Harry and Tommy Powell; her special neighbors Andy and Roxanne Harkleroad and Doug and Susie Smith; her devoted caregivers Ann Robinette who loved her unconditionally, Salem Terrace @ Harrogate's Dogwood Memory Care; Good Samaritan Hospice for your compassionate care with dignity given by Lynn Cyr, Donna Charpia, Ginni Weisz, Aretha Banks, and Cindy Smith. Flowers are appreciated, but those wishing to make donations, we suggest Shenandoah Baptist Church, 6520 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA. 24019 or Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, S. W., Roanoke, VA. 24018. In life, some are uncertain of their path to our heavenly Father, but prior to mother's severe decline with dementia, she remained faithful to her Lord through her prayers, witnessing, singing her favorite hymn "Jesus Loves Me" and reading through her bible numerous times. Yes, our mother loved to travel, last stop "Heaven" - Amazing Grace!
