Virginia Crawford Powell was born May 21, 1915 and passed to her Heavenly home on April 18, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, Josiah Lee and Mary Blanche Crawford, her husband, Bernard O. Powell, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, and a son-in-law, John Douglas Tate. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Tate; son, John B. Powell (Phyllis); grandchildren, Troy Tate (Heidi), Jonge Tate (Lynnea), Sean Powell, Kelly Bransteter and husband Clint, and Kobi; eleven great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Powell was a graduate of Troutville High School. Her life was filled with hard work, love, and dedication for her church, family, and friends. With the passing of her husband at the age of 50, she went to worked and retired from ITT. The family expresses their appreciation to Medi Home Hospice for their loving kindness and excellent care. Loving the Lord with all her heart, she served faithfully as a lifelong member of the Cloverdale Church of the Brethren, so in memory of her faith, and commitment, memorials may be sent to Cloverdale Church of the Brethren, 4708 Reed Mountain Road, Cloverdale, Va. 24077 in her memory. Family will receive friends at North Roanoke Baptist Church, 6402 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke 24019 on Tuesday April 26, 2016 from 4:00pm until a memorial service celebrating Mrs. Powell’s life 5:00pm with Revs. Patrick Starkey and Jonge Tate officiating. Inurnment will be private.
