James T. (Jim, Poncho) 86, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 18, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents , numerous brothers and sisters. He served in the U S Army during World War II. Poncho was a member of Brooklyn Masonic Lodge in Brooklyn, Indiana; the Shriners; and a member of Teamsters Local # 171. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Fay Foster; children, Sheila McDaniel (Alvin) of Glade Hill, Va.; Sallie (Michael) Givens; Grady (Mary) Foster, all of Roanoke; Tami Higgins of Floyd; Sharon (Steve) Wimmer of Bedford; sister, Irene Manning of Rutledge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Sonia (Eric) Whitley; Jason (Shannon) Berg; Jason Hall; Jessica Thomas, Nathan Foster; six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Robert Mullens. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707.
