Betty A. Shupe 83 of Roanoke went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday March 23, 2016. Her parents, sisters, Hazel Hall, Helen Mercer, and a brother, Pete Aker, preceded her. Mrs. Shupe retired after many years of service in Costumer Service with Dominion Bank. After retirement, she worked at Jobe Florist answering the phones and taking orders for flower arrangements. She sang with her family and was very active in her church, Covenant Community Church of God for many years. A very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed by all. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 65 years, Don L. Shupe; a daughter, Donna Paxton and husband Bobby of Roanoke; granddaughter, Kimberly Pauley and husband Jason of Roanoke; two sisters, Jean Spitler of Roanoke, and June Testerman and husband Jim of N.C; brother, Frank Aker and wife Mary Ann of Atkins. Along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends to numerous to mention. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Covenant Community Church, 955 Bird Lane, Salem, Va. 24153 in her memory. A funeral service celebrating Mrs. Shupe’s life will be held 10:00am Saturday March 26, 2016 in Simpson Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Briscoe and Rev. Scott Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00pm in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Va. family will receive friends Friday March 25, 2016 from 5:00-8:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home.
