Obituary of Robert Wade Spangler

Robert W. Spangler, Sr. (Dubbs), 67, of Buchanan passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura (Catherine) Caldwell Spangler and Charles (Bill) Spangler. Surviving are his loving wife of almost 26 years, Deborah M. Spangler, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tommy Mundy, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Leigh Spangler; and four grandchildren that their "Gradaddy" adored, Lauren and Grace Mundy, and Lindsey and Lexi Spangler. Robert was "Uncle Ro-Ro" to Chrystal Bishop, Cheryl Hayes and Jacob Mann. He also leaves behind his one brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Chip) and Regina Spangler. Robert was a nature lover with a particular fondness for the James River. He enjoyed time spent on his deck watching the river flow, canoeing, fishing and camping. He loved traveling and was a collector of many "unique treasures" including rocks collected from his travels and with his granddaughters. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time.
