Donna G. Mitchell, 82, of Salem passed away Monday, February 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Mitchell, parents, Donald Gooch and Ida Vinsonhaler, a brother, Donald "Butch" Gooch and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Mary Mitchell.
Donna was a graduate of the San Joaquin General Hospital School of Nursing. She retired after 20 years of service as a Registered Nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. She was a member of Fair View United Methodist Church and the Salem Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her children, Charles "Chuck" Mitchell, William "Rick" Mitchell and wife Sonya, Charlene "Charlie" Branch and husband Mike; grandchildren, Monica Cole and husband Troy, Zachary Mitchell, Khristina Mitchell and Jarrett Mitchell; great grandchildren, Ryan Cole, Madisen Cole and Rebekah Lawrence; two sisters and her four legged children, Reba, Tiny and Ginger.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to Angels of Assisi 415 W. Campbell Avenue Roanoke, Va. 24016.
A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Donald Baldwin. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
