Obituary of Dora Guilliams

Dora Weaver Guilliams, 88, of Elliston pased away at her home on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Mrs. Guilliams was born in Montgomery County on December 14, 1923 to John and Lula Brookman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Weaver, Sr. and R. Paul Guilliams; son, Howard Weaver, Jr.; son in law, J. Sherman Payne; brothers, Amos and Bill Brookman; and a sister Inez Martin. Mrs Guilliams along with her first husband, Howard owned the Blue Ridge Nurseries in Elliston for 45 years. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and at one time an active member of Big Spring Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy W. Payne of Roanoke; son and daughter in law, Dr. Michael and Betty Weaver of Stewartstown, PA; daughter in law, Ellen Weaver of Roanoke; grandchildren, Todd and Patti Dickerson of Roanoke; Kimberly Wood of Stafford; Tiffany Weaver, of Hallam, PA; TSgt. Sean and Stephanie Weaver of Aviano Air Force Base, Italy; great grandchildren, Kelsey Dickerson, Corey, Gary, Johathan and Catherine Weaver; step son, Russsell and Karen Meiss of Roanoke; and extended family members, Bubbie and Dianne Hall, Chance Hall and Heather Light. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimers Association. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Sherwood Memorial Park by the Rev. Michael Anderson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
