Jay D. Williams, 58, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 6, 2016. He was preceded by his parents, Joe D. and Dorothy Kress Williams. Jay was an avid sportsman and James Madison Dukes fan. He volunteered as a coach with the North Roanoke Recreation Club for a number of years. Most recently he enjoyed playing tennis, trips to the beach, and riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Surviving are his wife, Jane Cole Williams, son, Jason (Karen) Williams; daughters, Jessica and Jennifer Williams; grandchildren, Isabelle and Benjamin Williams; sister, Jamie (Pete) Greenwood; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Jeremy Williams and Tarah Greenwood. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Pastor Mike Lauridsen will lead a service of Prayer and Remembrance immediately following the visitation at 7:30 p.m. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory
