Obituary of Janet Leslie

Janet Riley (Ninnie) Leslie, 73, of Botetourt County, gained her wings on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. She was born on August 19, 1938, in Middlesex County to the late John L. and Irene J. Riley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John "Bubbie" Riley Jr. Ninnie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Janet was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church where she served as a youth leader for many years. Surviving are her beloved husband of over 54 years, Robert L. "Bob" Leslie Sr.; daughter, Donna L. VanElzen and husband, Patrick, and their children, Chelsea R. VanElzen and Patrick J. VanElzen Jr., of Botetourt County; son, Robert L. Leslie Jr. and wife, Nan, and their children, Jodi L. Novak and husband, Jesse, and their daughter, Reese Parker Novak; Robert L. Leslie III; Sarah E. Frazier and Jenny K. Frazier; son, John A. Leslie and his children, Katie A. Leslie, Kristin H. Leslie and Andrew S. Leslie. The family wishes to thank the staff and friends at Lewis Gale Medical Center for the care and concern they showed Janet and her family. Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to the Building Fund at North Roanoke Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by Dr. Darryl Crim. Entombment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
