Obituary of Jean Felty Bowles

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jean Felty Bowles, 84, of Roanoke, VA, left this world to begin her eternity with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 14, 2016. She was born in Wytheville, VA, on May 25, 1931, to the late Randolph Trinkle Felty and Willie Spoone Felty. She will be greeted by her awaiting forever husband, Julian Repass Bowles, and her son Julian Repass Bowles Jr. (Butchie), along with numerous others that have gone before. She will be missed by her sons, James and wife LaRaine, Dean, and Dale; daughter, Becky Layman and husband David, and adopted daughter Janice Blackwood; grandchildren, David Layman and wife Jenesse, Kimberly Sawyer and husband Rob, Jonathan Bowles and wife Lanie, and Laura Bowles Jenkins; great grandchildren, Dillon, Conner, Ethan, and Michael Layman, Bryce and Collin Bowles, John Jr and Julian Jenkins. Surviving siblings are David Felty, Patsy Corvin, Donald Felty and wife Barbara, Allen Felty, and numerous nieces and nephews. As a family, we have no doubt she is now chasing birds, dancing, climbing trees, and exploring her new home with the wonder of a child! While we will indeed mourn the absence of her presence, her laugh, her whit, and her humor, we rejoice and celebrate in the fact that as children of the same Lord we will see her again. Her family is extremely grateful for the impact she had on their understandings of grace, faith, and the salvation message of Jesus Christ. Memorial services will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity in Jean’s honor.
