Obituary of Earnest "Leroy" Murdock

Earnest “Leroy” Murdock 67 of Roanoke died Thursday January 7, 2016 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Leroy was born in Washington County, VA on July 14, 1948, and grew up in Horsepasture, VA. He was preceded by his parents, Robert Washington, and Edna Virginia Henderson Murdock, a brother, Donald, sisters, Opal Severt, and Wanda Keith. Leroy is survived by his wife, Bonnie Pugh Murdock; three sons, Brian, (Catherine) of Yorktown, David, (Jessica) of Roanoke, and Jimmy of Jacksonville, FL; four grandsons, Ayden, Wyatt, Riley, and Luke; sisters, Colleen Wood, and Gaynell, (Charlie) Sigmon. Leroy’s love of Christ was evident by the way he lived his life and cared for others. He worked as a Lawn and Garden Equipment and Parts Sales Representative for over 36 years. Having never met a stranger, he loved those he worked with and those he met along the way. Many lives are richer because of the blessing of the life of Leroy. The family would like to thank Dr. Biscardi, and Dr. Rubio and their staff for their care and support. Family will accept flowers or donations in Leroy’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.com. A graveside service will be held 11:00am Monday January 11, 2016 in Oak Hill Cemetery, 116 Elam Lane, Boones Mill, VA. with Dr. Daryyl Crim officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday January 10, 2016 from 2:00-9:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home.
