Obituary of Nellie Marie Hale

Nellie Marie Hale, 95, of Culpeper, Va., formerly of Roanoke and Swords Creek, where she was raised and raised her children, went to be with the Lord on Monday December 28, 2015. She was preceded by her husband Sherman Hale, and her oldest daughter, Mildred Ilene Lanham, and a brother, Warren Jackson. Mrs. Hale was a member of the Order of Odd Fellows Rebekah Assemblies Lodge #9. In addition, for many years a member of Valley View Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed talking to and being with her family. All will dearly miss a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend. Surviving are her children, two sons, Leon Hale of Canal Winchester, Ohio, John Hale of Abingdon; three daughters, Judy Armentrout of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Sharon Sprouse and husband Bill of Culpeper, and Tammy Cruse of Roanoke; one brother, Bill Jackson and wife Nancy of Tazewell. Along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Family request memorials may be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission in her memory. A funeral service will be 10:00am Saturday January 2, 2016 at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Jones officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00pm Saturday in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Cedar Bluff, Va. with Pastor J.C. Johnson officiating. Friends may visit with the family an hour before the service at the funeral home Saturday.
