J.C. Outlaw, age 84, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on December 18, 2015. Born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina in 1931, he began his career early, managing a variety store by age 18. He became Vice President of U-Save Corporation and was Director of Merchandising for Wallace Hardware Company. J.C. was active in Gideons International, faithfully served as a deacon in his church and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. He was awarded Deacon Emeritus by Rosalind Hills Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing and gardening. Mr. Outlaw is preceded in death by his father, Jessie Luvic Outlaw, his mother, Dollie Mae Outlaw and a sister, Dorothy McCray. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Clifton Outlaw, daughter, Pamela Rose and son-in-law, Harold E. Rose, Jr. and grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose, husband, Joel Herzig, Trey Rose, Mary Anna Rose and nephew, Thomas “Bo” McCray. The family will receive friends at Rosalind Hills Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.
