Virginia "Granny" Austin Altice, 82, of Roanoke, went to her heavenly home Saturday, November 14, 2015. She was preceded by her parents, Walter B. and Bertha May Austin, husbands, Pete Altice, and Lawrence McCarty. In recent months Granny had made her home in Willis, with her grandson and his wife, Travis and Marsha Crowe. Granny's legacy in life was that of a caring and compassionate person who was always willing to help others. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Crowe, and Brenda (Tony) Crowe; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Clyde Austin; sister, Juanita Lovel; half sister, Ruby Manring; and numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and other family members. Funeral Services will be conducted Noon Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Don Eshelman. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home.
