George R. Muterspaugh, Sr., 85, of Salem went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 31, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Chittum Muterspaugh; daughter, Lisa; parents William and Pearl; brothers, Richard, Pat, Frank, and Allen Muterspaugh; sisters, Grace Jones, Hallie Copper, Helen Ruff and Viola Via. George was a member of the Redwood Community Center, the Red Valley Community Center, and the Huddleston Ruritan Club. Surviving are his companion of eight years, Barbara Fielder and her children; his children, Sherry Gentry and husband Jerry, Jerry Muterspaugh and wife Becky, Timothy Mutherspaugh and wife Tonya, Mark Muterspaugh and wife Sue, Deborah Lowery and husband Charlie, and George Muterspaugh, Jr.; 21 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; sister, Annabelle Muterspaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice especially, Jewell, Terry, Marci and Desiree for the exceptional care they provided during Georges' illness. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Rodney Spears.
