Obituary of Clinton Waldo Shaw

Clinton W. Shaw, Sr., 86, of Roanoke, was called to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the VA Palliative Care Center. He was born on November 22, 1928, in Grayson County, a son of the late Waldo Shaw and Lessie Hampton Shaw. He was also preceded in death by his son Clinton (Wally) W. Shaw, Jr., and a brother, Harold Shaw. Clinton was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved the outdoors and working in his yard. He was an avid Virginia Tech fan and a well-respected salesman in the furniture business for many years. He enjoyed post retirement working part-time for The Mattress Depot. He was a member of Northview United Methodist Church. Clinton is survived by his wife of 62 years, Katherine Fielder Shaw; his daughter Charlotte Shaw Darby; his son, David Shaw and wife Cindy of Boones Mill; grandsons Patrick Moore of Easley, SC, Rushton Shaw of Boones Mill; and granddaughters, Katrina and Jayden Shaw of Boones Mill. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Isabella, Lainey Kate, and Oneil Moore of Easley, SC. He is survived by his sister Helen Mink, and special brother-in-law, John Fielder, and wife Pat, all of Galax. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank those many special angels at the VA Palliative Care Center for taking such good care of our loved one. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Northview United Methodist Church, with Pastor Joe Klotz officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friend following the service in the church Family Life Center.
