Obituary of Pamela L. Finley

Pamela Lane Finley, of Blue Ridge, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 18, 2015 at the age of 46, after a courageous four-year battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Pam was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Shupe, of Virginia Beach. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Scot Finley. She also leaves two children. of whom she was very proud of, a son, Sam, and a daughter, Heather. She also leaves her father, David Shupe and his wife, Elaine Dewey-Shupe of Lewes, Delaware; and a brother, Dave Shupe, of Virginia Beach. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Lori Davie, a niece, Anna Davie, and nephew, Will Davie and father-in-law, John Finley, of Bartlett, Tennessee. She is also survived by many loving aunts and uncles and literally “dozens of cousins". Pam was a graduate of Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, earned a BS in biology from Virginia Tech and a Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. She practiced Optometry beside Pearle Vision at Valley View for almost twenty years where she had a special fondness for her thousands of patients. She was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church where she worked with her “babies”, the one-year-old Sunday School class and also served as a “greeter” for the contemporary worship service. She also faithfully ministered beside her husband, the former Minister of Senior Adults at Bonsack, for fourteen years. Her quick smile and sincere care for others will be enormously missed Visitation will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bonsack Baptist Church. The funeral will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Bonsack Baptist Church and an additional hour of visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. that day. The Rev. Dr. Chris Cadenhead will conduct the service. A fund is being opened for Pam’s children; if you would like to make a memorial contribution to that fund you may send it to “Scot Finley, Custodian” at 191 White Oak Dr, Blue Ridge, VA 24064. Memorials may also be sent to the building fund of Bonsack Baptist Church, 4845 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke, VA 24019, or to a charity of one’s choosing.
