Franklin Delano "Chunk" Caldwell, 82, of Roanoke passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Salem Health and Rehab Center. He was born March 7, 1933 in Waiteville, West Virginia a son of the late Czernie and Betty Switzer Caldwell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, and a grandson, Dustin Huffman. Mr. Caldwell served in the U S Army during the Korean War and retired from Salem Frame. Surviving are his daughters, Dreama and Beverly; grandsons, Will and Ray; brothers, Lee and Dellie and a sister, Elizabeth. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Home Based Primary Care Department at the V A Medical Center, the staff at the Adult Care Center of the Roanoke Valley and the staff at Lewis Gale Medical Center. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Adult Care Center of the Roanoke Valley 2321 Roanoke Boulevard Salem, Va. 24153. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in Fair View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon on Wednesday until service time. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home.
