William Sylvester (Bob) Hoback, 89, of Roanoke died Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born in Bedford County on January 14, 1926 the son of the late Charles R. and Florence Sands Hoback. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Wayne Hoback, and a step granddaughter, Angela (Angie) Powers. Mr. Hoback retired from Valley Metro after 30 plus years of service.Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Everlene Blankenship Hoback; granddaughter, Amanda H. Jasek; great granddaughter, Madalynn Efkeman; brother-in-law, Richard L. Blankenship and wife Iris; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Center Point United Methodist Church C/O Russell Thomas 1637 Kantzs Corner Road Bedford, Va. 24523. or to the National D Day Foundation 106 E. Main Street Bedford, Va. 24523.Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Vernon DeLong. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
