Obituary of Garland LeLynn Brown

Garland LeLynn (Jakie) Brown, of Cloverdale, Virginia, born July 1, 1944, past from this life on September 8, 2015, at Carilion Hospital Roanoke, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father Garland Lee Brown, his mother Melva Irene Abee Brown, and two brothers, James Harold (Jimmy) and William Robert (Bob) Brown. He is survived by his long time sole mate of over 30 years Janet (Bell) Parker, his best friend and very dedicated brother Billy Ray (Butch) Brown, five sisters; Juanita Beaver, Brenda Robertson, Carolyn Horn (Raymond), Nancy Burnette (Aubrey), and Patricia Thomas (Eddie), one sister-in-law Diane Brown. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and an aunt. Jakie grew up in Roanoke and traveled the United States while hauling freight driving cross country most of his life; only stopping due to his health. The family wishes to thank the staff at Spring Tree Health Care Center, the doctors, and the 8th floor ICU at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care during the time he spent under their care.
