Obituary of Robert Andrew Edwards

Robert Andrew Edwards 94 of Roanoke passed away Saturday August 29, 2015. His wife, Frances Edwards preceded him. Mr. Edwards proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was an avid outdoorsman and when not outside he loved music, and played several different instruments. Surviving are two-step children, George Bronson (Connie) and Suzie Philpott (Joe); nine grandchildren, Ricky, Rhonda, Kerry, Eddie, Randy, Tammy, Lindsey, Amy, and Billy; four great grandchildren, Jeb, Conner, Hannah, and Aaron; sister-in-law, Gladys Edwards; nephews, Barry and Tommy. Along with a host of other family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at VVCC and Good Samaritan Hospice for their love and care extended to Robert’s family. A funeral service celebrating Robert’s life will be held 2:00pm Tuesday September 1, 2015 in Simpson Funeral Home with Ron Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 1:00pm till service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
