Clifton Lynn Collins, II, 44, of Roanoke died peacefully Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem while surrounded by his loving family. Born, November 13, 1970 Clifton suffered bravely through many years of illness and is now at rest. He was preceded in death by his much loved grandparents, Robert and Mary Mick, and Byron and Joanne Poage; and his aunt, Ellie Brannan. Clifton is deeply mourned by his entire family, mother, Rachael Mick; father, Clifton L. Collins; cherished sister, Susan (who provided his bone marrow transplant and cared for him until the end) and her husband, Gene Watkins; nephew, Jordan; nieces, Victoria, Maggie, and Mackenzie; great nephew, Varen and his mother Aimee; aunts, Fran Yost, Brenda Draper, and Tracy Poage; aunt and godmother, Roberta Barrett, and many special cousins. He also leaves behind his good friend, Andrew Grisham and beloved dog, Dixie. The family offers a special thanks to Ricky and the staff at Richardson Ambulance Service who faithfully transported Cliff to dialysis. A memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
