Rev. Olin Glidden died peacefully in his home on August 17, 2015, in Roanoke, VA at the age of 98. Olin was born May 5, 1917 in Westmoreland, PA to Mable and Clarence Glidden. He graduated from Jefferson High School and married his high school sweet heart, Vivien Leonard. He graduated from Southwest Seminary and was pastor to several churches in the state of Virginia, Associate Director of Roanoke Valley Baptist Association, and Chaplin/Director of Truck Stop Christian Ministry. He was survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Joyce Glidden, daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Gary Dixon, grandchildren: Kara (Andy) Porch, Robin (Brennan) Gee, Brad (Kristy) Glidden, and Lindsey Mathews, great grandchildren: Kyler Glidden, Lydia and Chloe Gee, Kennedy and Andrew Porch. Proceeded in death by his loving wife Vivien, parents Clarence and Mable, and Sister Sarah Thomas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Melrose Baptist Church or Missions Committee. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Simpson Funeral Home. Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Melrose Baptist Church, interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory.
