Obituary of Dean Terry Hefner

Dean Terry D.T. Hefner 86 of Roanoke, Virginia died on August 5, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family. . He was predeceased by his sister, Nellie Mae Hitchcock, son, Russell Hefner, and grandson, Roger Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne, his daughter, Karen Fontana, and her husband, Nick of Maryland; sons, Terry Hefner, and Paul Hefner both of Roanoke; daughter, Julie Ferrell and husband, Edwin of Vernon Hill, Va. Along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army. Dean retired from Virginia Tech and was lovingly called “The Candy Man.” He loved his family and was a “kidder” to everyone! Moreover, he will be dearly missed by all. Mark Washington and the Rev. Charles Doyle officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
