Obituary of Dorothy B. Saunders

Dorothy B. Saunders 81 of Vinton was called home Monday July 27, 2015. Mrs. Saunders is a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. She is a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who enjoyed her family very much and will be dearly missed by them all. And she also enjoyed all kinds of needlework, and Genealogy in her spare time. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Haywood A. Saunders; six children, Cynthia Murphy and husband Edward of Lorton, Douglas A. Saunders of Vinton, Clinton A. Saunders of Salem, Pam Holdren and husband Jeff of Vinton. Stacy E. Saunders and wife Rhonda of Moneta, and Jason L. Saunders and wife Janice of Huddleston; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Bullard of Arkansas, Kenneth Bullard of Texas; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention them all. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for all their care and support during this time In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Assoc. or to American Heart Assoc. in Mrs. Saunders memory. A service celebrating Mrs. Saunders’s life will be held 2:00pm Wednesday July 29, 2015 in Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Stevens officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00pm till service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
